Huit Huit Tours

Huit Huit Tours

Share in our kinship with the stunning natural arctic environment, and millennia-old Inuit traditions and knowledge. Huit Huit Tours offers a variety of eco-culture trips in Cape Dorset and the south Baffin region including boating, camping, observing wildlife, viewing archeological sites and exploring Inuit art and culture with artists and residents. We combine adventure and experiential learning, with a focus on smaller groups seeking a more intimate encounter with the environment. All tours begin with a home cooked country meal.

Huit Huit Tours can also offer large group coordination and tours for cruise ships visiting Cape Dorset.

  • Inuit culture connected to land and sea

Set out by boat along the south Baffin coast. Pause at Itilliaqiuk and glimpse the centuries old array of inuksuit that stand guard over this narrow passage. Crossing Andrew Gordon Bay, pass islands with storied names that harken to a bygone era when Inuit lived in camps along this archipelago. You’ll marvel at our ancestors' ingenuity and survival skills in this unforgiving arctic environment.

Finish by joining a cultural gathering to talk with elders and enjoy the traditional throat singing.

  • Saqpak fishing camp – Arctic wilderness

Join us for the thrill of an authentic arctic wilderness experience. Set sail down the south Baffin coast to Saqpak Bay where we will camp at our favourite summer fishing spot. Bring your teamwork spirit to set up the tent camp before going on a hike inland with Inuit guides in search of caribou or to the coast to cast for char. Fishing is best when the tides are coming in.

  • Inuit Spring Camp

Experience the lure of the land during the arctic springtime! Come along with us as we return to our spring camp, travelling on snowmobiles and qamutiks across vast stretches of sea ice- and snow-covered shorelines to Iqalugaaqjuk Camp at Andrew Gordon Bay. Stay in the comfort of a heated cabin or choose to sleep in a traditional tent on the tundra. Jig for arctic char through the ice at the fish lake.
